When it comes to supercars, or any kind of automobile for that matter, Ferraris are essentially like automotive royalty. Indeed, Ferrari has an unmatched legacy and produces cars that are the ultimate representation of glamour, high performance, and Italian design.

From the time the very first Ferrari 125 S rolled off the production line in 1947, the remarkable vehicles manufactured by this company have embodied the passion and determination of its founder, Enzo Ferrari, who devoted pretty much his entire life to designing and building some of the world’s most beautiful sports cars.

Over the years following the release of that first model, as other models took the automotive world by storm, such as the 250 GT Spyder, the F40, and the LaFerrari, Ferrari’s prancing horse logo became one of the most iconic in the world.

With their magnificent designs and their impressive performance, Ferraris have been turning heads on both the open road and the track for over half a century. When you get behind the wheel of a Ferrari, there is a certain electric feeling that you cannot quite put your finger on, but that feeling is one of the many reasons that Ferraris are among the most sought after and well-renowned supercars available.

What are the top speeds of the world’s fastest Ferraris?

If there is one feature above all the rest that draws automobile fans to certain cars, it is definitely speed. Nothing quite compares to the sensation of accelerating from 0-60 mph in just a few seconds, and when it comes to speed, Ferraris do not disappoint.

Essentially, every Ferrari that has ever been made has been designed with speed in mind, and certain models are especially well-known for their impressive velocity. The following are some of the speediest Ferraris on the market and the truly amazing statistics that they boast:

The F40 LM

Although the Ferrari F40 LM was designed to be driven on public roads rather than on the racetrack, its performance ended up being so good that plans changed. Thus, a competition-bred version was put on the tracks, where it did exceptionally well, achieving high speeds of up to 229 mph (368 km/h).

The car’s 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine has 720 horsepower, which propelled it from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds.

The 288 GTO Evoluzione

Unfortunately, the Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, released in 1986, never actually got a chance to enter any races because it was a Group B rally racer. The excessively high output of such cars caused some seriously tragic accidents that led to this class of cars getting discontinued.

However, the 288 GTO Evoluzione was a true beast even by today’s standards. Its 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 650 horsepower allowed it to go from 0-60 mph in just 5 seconds and reach a top speed of 230 mph (370 km/h).

The F50 GT

The Ferrari F50 GT was designed with one sole purpose in mind: dominating the race tracks and taking down the McLaren F1 GTR.

To reach a top speed of 235 mph (378 km/h), Ferrari took the F50, which was already impressive, reduced the weight by about half a ton, added a six-speed sequential transmission, boosted the horsepower to 739, and installed massive slicks to keep that extra power grounded.

With a 4.7-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine, the Ferrari F50 GT is able to go from 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds.

The Enzo XX Evolution Edo Competition

Although the Ferrari Enzo XX Evolution Edo Competition was not built for the public market and is a track car only, that may be a good thing because taking this monster of a vehicle up to its top speed of 242 mph (389 km/h) on a public road would be a recipe for disaster.

The car’s 6.3-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine has 840 horsepower, which allows it to go from 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds.

The Enzo ZXX Evolution Edo Competition

Another highly modified supercar that has been designed to excel above and beyond, especially with regard to speed, is the Ferrari Enzo ZXX Evolution Edo Competition, which boasts a mind-boggling 950 horsepower.

This model slightly outperforms the Enzo XX Evolution Edo Competition, as it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 245 mph (394 km/h).

The FXX Evoluzione

The fastest car that Ferrari has ever manufactured is the FXX Evoluzione, which was made to be an improved follow-up to the FXX that was released in 2005. Although the FXX Evoluzione was built with the same 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine, it delivered even more torque and a horsepower of 848.

Only 30 of these cars were manufactured, and with a top speed of 249 mph (400 km/h) and a 0-60 acceleration in just 2.5 seconds, the velocity of this model has yet to be surpassed by any Ferraris that have been released since then.
